If you have a few pounds or more to lose and have tried different things which just don’t seem to work for you. Take heart, there are fun ways to lose weight without really thinking about it. For instance walking is a fun way to enjoy the sunshine and lose a few pounds.
Walking will burn calories, boost your metabolism, reduce body fat, and strengthen your legs. It will also help you to control your stress and release the tension in you. Take a buddy with you and throw a football back and forth. Increase the pace by throwing the football just ahead of your buddy. Make a friendly wager by saying dropped balls require a monetary payment.
Other ways to get a walk in is to plan it. Park at the end of the parking lot and walk to the store. Walk with your children. One fun activity is to go on a penny walk. At each corner flip the penny to determine the direction you will go next. Children love this simple activity. Go exploring in different parts of the town you live in. One walk I went on with my family was to find a “lost sidewalk”. Turns out the sidewalk was in a forgotten part of town and disconnected on both ends. Who would have known without a little exploring.
Using a pedometer and a watch will help you to realize how far you are going. One suggestion was to walk at least 1000 steps per day. There are charts on the internet that calculate how many calories you will lose by walking. Take advantage of these.
When was the last time you played tag? Kids love this game and there are so many variations. I know you may be out of breath after a few minutes but you can build up to it. Enjoy doing things you haven’t done for years. Kids generally are not fat because they are always thinking of fun things to do which generally involve some form of running. For instance, jump a fence, play on a trampoline or ride a bike.
One activity I did when I was younger was play tag on a bike with a friend. The person behind the front person tries to pass them. If they can, the back person becomes it. This can go on for some time. Great distances can be covered in a short time and you get good steady exercise.
