Use Exercise to Reduce Cellulite
If you are a woman chances are you have cellulite or you dread getting it. The fact is that most women will get cellulite at some point and age increases the risk of having it. It is often seen on the buttocks, thighs and hips but can occur elsewhere on the body - especially in women with excess fat. It is caused by pockets of lumpy fat at the subcutaneous tissue layer.
What are the best ways to reduce cellulite? Cellulite cream is often recommended to treat the condition but their marketing claims often don’t match up well with the result. As the causes of cellulite happen beneath the skin, it is impossible for a cream to really affect the lumpy pockets of fat there. As such, while cellulite removal creams can improve the look of the skin by increasing circulation, they cannot permanently affect the appearance of your cellulite.
So, if cellulite creams are overrated then what are the alternatives? According to health experts, diet and exercise is the best way to reduce cellulite. This is because the main reason why the condition forms is due to excess fat and a lack of supporting muscle. Lean muscle acts as a support base for the subcutaneous fat above, smoothing it out and firming it. Of course, excess fat will cause the subcutaneous pockets to bulge and become lumpy. As such, you need a right balance of muscle and fat.
When formulating an exercise program specifically designed to reduce this condition, you need to focus on two types of different exercises. The first is fat burning cardio exercises and you shouldn’t just choose any. Instead, you should select cardio exercises that work the muscles in and surround the areas where you have cellulite. For example, if your problem areas are your thighs and buttocks then an excellent exercise would be the stepper machine.
The second type of exercise you should do is strength training, specifically focused on the areas affected by the condition. For example, if cellulite is occurring on your legs and butt then squats and lunges will be excellent choices. An added benefit of increasing lean muscle mass is that it helps to increase your metabolism for ongoing fat burning effects.
As you can see, to lose cellulite there is no need for expensive creams or exotic treatments. Instead you should focus on your diet and exercises that improve muscle mass and reduce excess fat levels.
