If we must believe the evolution theory of Darwin than mankind is not made to walk up straight. This is probably one of the reasons why so many people have problems with their back. Especially when we grow older we have to endure the erosion and degeneration on our vertebrae. Most people will just have pain in their backs now and than, but for some people it is more serious because they have a decompression in to the spine. A lumbar laminectomy surgery might be the only treatment in order to fight the pain and cure your back problems.
Spinal nerves paths start at your brain and travel the body via the vertebrae through a very small hole. When there is erosion, degeneration or spinal decompression because of another reason than this will result in a lot of pain in your back and upper legs. The only way to treat this is by removing the decompression so the spine will not be decompressed anymore. The only way to do this is by surgery, the neurosurgeon will make a very small incision on the spot of the decompression. He will push the back muscles aside in order to have a clear view on the spine and to access it. He will put a small tube in to your body which carry a laser and a camera inside of it. He will travel to the place of interest and he will try to remove pieces of the spinal disc that are causing the decompression. He can also remove parts of bone that cause the decompression. When the surgery thinks he is finished he will make an X-ray to see if everything is to his likings and if it is ok than the surgery is done.
Although only a small incision is made in to the spine, there are still risks on bleeding and infection. Your doctor will notify you for all the risks that could accompany you. If you have lower back problems for a longer period of time than it might be wise to let you examine by your doctor.
